In my mind there is no distinction between realism and abstraction. The most common response to these two donations is "how realistic" they look. That might give them some visual holding power but their documentation is incidental. To me they are a sobering balance to the festivity of currency transfer associated with fund raisers. As a painting they may be as quick and consumable as a snack pie. It may also mark a temporary transition away from observation for me. Maybe these two paintings are their own empty, disposable, containers that reflect what is outside of them.
